This is a story of a real-life David and Goliath – a large company with deep pockets strongarming a small Main Street business in Buffalo, Wyoming. But the story is a bit different because, in this case, David doesn’t have a slingshot to fight back.
The story revolves around what’s called “trademark bullying.” Business News Daily says trademark bullying is “when large companies unfairly or illegitimately threaten small companies with legal action for purported trademark infringement.”
That happened recently to Clear Creek Brewing Company. Last April, brewery owners – Robert and Mary McCorkle and Chris and Michelle Jones – received a letter from Hood River Distillers. The distillery, headquartered in Hood River, Oregon, is famous for Pendleton Whisky, among other drinks.
